“My daughter started the confidence program at 11 years old. She was in her first year of middle school and needed more positive mentors and peers. I appreciated the program and how it acknowledged her presence, to just let them exist, and gave them the freedom to define themselves. Just having multiple positive women influences will go the long way to a young minority young woman’s life. Her going to this program once a month is a perfect example of a great self-care day which is important for a young woman and to have people who want to assist in well-being of my daughter and teaching her to appreciate herself for who she is and help encourage her personal growth. This program helps young women acknowledge and appreciate themselves with recognition which creates self-acceptance and helps strengthen self-esteem. This will create more women minority leaders.”
“The confidence class not only helps our girls build their confidence but breaks down the biases towards black girls by giving them the tools to keep going. No matter what obstacles may come their way. This class has taught my daughter the importance of relationships, speaking up, and being proud of who she is. Jovan does great activities with the girls to get them to understand that they are precious and special in their own way.”
“My daughter attended the confidence class since its conception and we loved it! My daughter has always been bright and full of joy but needed the extra boost to have her own voice. I think that the starting ages for this class was great because the young ladies are leaving the “baby stage” and entering the “big girl” stage. My daughter was able to see other black and brown women in leadership roles and this is another reason I loved it. Jovan Goodman did a wonderful job exposing the girls to our community, world, and themselves. Those introductions will last a lifetime. As a parent this was just a Saturday program for her to have something to do yet it was a safe space for her to learn and judgment free zone for her to express herself.”
"The class provided my daughters with support and encouragement to use their voices, be kind to and love themselves. After completing the class, I saw my girls applying the concepts learned and continuing to do so in their everyday lives! Mariah said, "it helped me to see things about myself that I didn't see before".
"Thanks so much for this training. I wish we could be surrounded by such a great group of women who share the same love for the community and want to build confidence in young girls around the world like myself. The content of the material was great and easy to understand. I really appreciate the feedback from you and the other women on ideas, tips, and tricks on how they will use the material in their classes. I'm excited about the follow up coaching call in two weeks..."
